DMV Helping Hands

Office & Commercial Moving Services in the DC Metro Area

Business relocations require more coordination than a standard home move. We plan the logistics, work around your schedule, and get your office moved with minimal disruption to your operations.

Commercial Moving in the DMV

From Small Offices to Full Floor Relocations

The DC metro is home to thousands of businesses — law firms, nonprofits, government contractors, associations, and small businesses — that relocate within the area every year. Whether you're moving a 3-person startup or a 20-person team, we size the crew to the job and plan around your schedule.

We're available for weekend and evening moves, which most businesses prefer to avoid disrupting the workweek. Commercial buildings in DC often have loading dock requirements and certificate of insurance requirements similar to residential high-rises — we handle both.

  • Filing cabinets (emptied)
  • Conference tables & whiteboards
  • Breakroom equipment & appliances

What Makes a Commercial Move Different

Weekend & Evening Scheduling

Most DC-area offices prefer to move on a Saturday or Sunday to avoid disrupting the workweek. We schedule commercial moves around your business hours.

Coordinated Planning

We review your floor plan, access points, elevator availability, and building move-in rules in advance. Commercial buildings often have dock access and freight elevator requirements similar to residential high-rises.

Right-Sized Crew

Office moves vary widely — from a single-room nonprofit to a multi-floor business relocation. We recommend the right crew size based on the volume of furniture and equipment, not a one-size-fits-all quote.

Office Moving FAQs

Can you move my office over a weekend?
Yes. Weekend and after-hours scheduling is available and common for commercial moves in the DC metro. Moving outside of business hours minimizes disruption to your team and your clients. Mention your preferred timing when requesting a quote.
Do you move computer monitors and electronic equipment?
We move monitors, printers, and peripheral equipment carefully, but we don't disconnect or reconnect any IT infrastructure, servers, or networked equipment. We recommend having your IT team disconnect and box sensitive electronics before moving day. We handle the physical transport.
Do filing cabinets need to be emptied before the move?
Yes. Filing cabinets become very heavy when loaded with documents and are generally not safe to move with contents inside. We recommend emptying filing cabinets and boxing documents separately, then labeling the boxes clearly so they can be returned to the correct cabinet at the new location.
How far in advance should I book an office move?
For small office moves (1–5 people), 1–2 weeks' notice is usually sufficient. For larger relocations involving multiple rooms or a full floor, 3–4 weeks ahead gives us time to plan properly. Weekend dates — especially Saturday — book quickly during peak season (May–September).
Can you move to a building with loading dock restrictions?
Yes. Many DC commercial buildings require loading dock reservations, specific move-in windows, and certificates of insurance. We can provide a COI naming your building as an additional insured. Confirm dock availability and any building-specific rules with your building manager before your move date.
How is an office move priced?
Office and commercial moves are billed at the same hourly crew rates as residential moves — starting at $115/hr for a 2-mover crew, up to $185/hr for 4 movers. We'll recommend the appropriate crew size based on the volume and type of items after reviewing your move details.
